Brief History:
Richie Ryan was an orphan and a foundling who grew up in orphanages and foster homes in Seacouver. By the time he was 17 he was also a thief, and a pretty good one. He broke into Duncan's store, intending to rob it, and got more than he bargained for- He nearly got his head chopped off, he did get adopted, but he didn't get arrested.

When he died and discovered he was immortal, it was Duncan who became his teacher. The two had a relationship that was *very* rocky at times. Duncan took a dark quickening, and nearly took Richie's head. Richie responded by going on a killing spree of his own: It was all about The Game for him, for quite a while.

The two reconciled and Richie looked like he was going to (finally) settle down. Then, seeing visions sent by Ahriman, Duncan took Richie's head.
