Non-spoilery, but there might be spoilers about the latest episode of Supernatural in the comments.

I, apparently, find some things and situations way less funny than most people. (And find some way more, as anyone who's watched a movie or a play with me has remarked, after the fourth of fifth time my laughter rings out in the quiet auditorium.)

However, watching somebody pick on a particularly bad performance that I have watched about 30 seconds of altogether (... maybe a minute? Tops?) and doing it well enough that I can recognize it? Totally can crack me up. And lift my mood. Whee!

Yeah, my daily tarot thing has been freakily applicable for days now again, and even more so, today. Is that a sign that I'm going a bit nuts, or that I'm channeling my NaNo muse a bit too much? :-P (Yes, I know that is somewhat nuts, too. >.> )

Right. Translation. Interspersed with catching up with shows from last night. Whee!

[NaNo] day 5

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It was a fight to get started tonight, but I picked a scene that would have a lot of emotional resonance for Cian. It's close to where Marc is emotionally this week, and I knew I could try to draw him out that way. And I've got him, a Cian on the cusp of figuring out that he needs to make a major change in his life. From this point in the book it'd be all downhill.

Except for the part where I'm writing out order and there's still half a book to come before this.

Anyway, set a goal of 3000 words for today and bypassed that by 40 words just as I reached a good pause point. Had to make up for yesterday and on Saturday I'll need to make up for tomorrow, unless I squeak a word or three out. We'll see.

Right, this week is turning out even more stressy than expected. Had an intensely busy day at work yesterday, am in training today all day, and working only a half day tomorrow. My husband has the flu. Last night I took my daughter to a concert, and Friday I'm going to CT to see the same concert myself. My son tested for his belt in TKD last night and my parents are being tapped to help move people around because of the insanity. Sometime Saturday night I may be human again.

Still tagging my log during the moments that I can. If anything has gone up that Peter or Alban need to be aware of, please please please poke me here or on AIM. Right now I'm just trying not to faceplant asleep before I even leave the house for work.

Finally caught up with the Mentalist. Still love Jane. To bits. The dratsab.

I'd post to sws about just how irked I am with the so called Disney crack... and I realise that if I do, I'd get tagged by each and every single mun playing that. Um. Yeah, no.

Need to write. It was going well last night, not so, or at all, right now. Boo.

Still doing reasonably with both keeping up with stuff, and eating and sleeping. Even though what I really want to do just now is curl with the book until I finish it and/or drift off...

[NaNo] day 3

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Just a real quick update for today. I wrote. I didn't write as much as I'd have liked. I caused trouble because I exiled my husband from the downstairs and the television while I'm writing since I don't have an office.

I won't get much written tomorrow but if I can even squeak out 1000 words at lunch I'll be in decent shape. Because tomorrow I go to see The Academy Is...! And Friday, too, but even less writing that day which is why I'm considering going straight to a write-in on Saturday when I get back from CT.

No tidbits today, sorry. I kind of hated the scene I was working on which is why I ground to a halt. Cian's voice still sucks.

So... if I am MIA, slow on tags, snappy, or something like that? It's not you, chances are that it's me. And it's not even NaNo's fault, well, not on its own - I just got dumped a 67-page somewhat specialized lingo translation (En-Bg) to do. Plus things picked up at work a bit.

I will attempt to organise myself and be adequate (and that does mean food and sleep, yes), but for a few days at least, until I hit my stride (or up to two weeks, until I finish the translation), no guarantees.

Oh well. Have dragons.

I am not technically doing RPWriMo. But I decided I'm curious to see what I end up with for word count for my characters responding to threads etc. in a normal month. Not even a normal month since I'm absurdly quiet so far.

Set a goal for myself of 2000 words today. Yes, that's more than I need to write, but I'm not going to be home for Wednesday and Friday nights, so I figure I'd better get ahead some. I may do a bit more after I go do chores, but for now, I'm done.

Clocked in with 2005 words for the day, finishing out one scene, another short one, and starting a third. The three scenes all flow together and are probably a chapter. Since they can't really be split out, I shoved them into a folder so I can move them around more easily.

So far this thing is kind of disjointed in my head. Hopefully I can seam it up a bit more neatly when all is said and done.

And for IJ only, a snippet! a short excerpt cut for cursing )

I know the post was done on Friday for practical reasons, but are we saying that the Halloween party happened on the Friday or the Saturday?

[NaNo] day 1

Today was a rough day getting going. First off, one of my characters refused to talk to me. So I skipped over the things I'd had planned for him and went into the random conversation that kicks off the next segment, between Shayne and Jack. And those two were more than happy to get talking. After doing some fighting with myself over the topic of head-hopping, I gave up and let myself do it. If this is worth anything when I'm done, I'll fix it in the revision. At least this is letting me get it down on paper now.

Had hoped to make it to 3k today, but the slower start meant I didn't get that far. I'm pleased with what I did accomplish, though.

In other non-writing but impacting of writing news, started off the day with a broken toilet (after switching on and off between me and Kev trying to fix it, he was finally the one able to do so). Then moved on to Halloween sales, and some cleaning to make a space to work downstairs. EXCEPT. My entire downstairs is still torn up while Kev installs heating, and this includes my office. Thus, no office for me. Now, my house? Is built on a very open pattern. There is NO PLACE inside the house where one cannot hear things elsewhere in the house EXCEPT my office. So even though I'd made space on the kitchen table, it was useless to me. I ended up writing on the back porch. It's about 50 degrees out, and my hands are cold, but at least I was finally able to focus enough to make wordcount.

When I was a teenager, Silhouette books had a line called "First Love." There were other romance imprints that teenage lines as well, and me, being a romance addict, read them all. Therefore, when I became a fledgling writer (I've been writing since I was 12, and my first attempts at writing seriously began when I was 15, so yeah, a VERY long time ago), I wrote to my reading tastes. I wrote Twilight Zone twisted horror, I wrote SF and fantasy, and my very first completed novel was a book called "Kodacolor Summer," intended for those teen romance lines.

In honor of NaNoWriMo, and because I'm damned curious just how long it was, I may type it in and save it here for posterity. With the huuuuuuge caveat that please remember I was 17 when I wrote this, it reads like a 17 year old with absolutely no kills wrote it, and gods I find it embarrassing as hell now! I'd like to hope I've grown a lot in the 20 some odd years since then.

When I need a break, I'll type some in....

As a side note, while I am doing NaNoWriMo, I am not (on purpose) doing the RP version. I suspect I spew that much wordage in a normal month while RPing as it is. *wry smile*

Evening Whovillers *g*

Anyone fancy playing with any of mine? *is restless* Pick up of old threads is good too. I've let my Whoville charries slide a little recently. Bad RPer, no cookie.

I have Pam, John Hart and Mitchell presently.

Anyone??

[NaNo] Jack's Last Drink

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Another bit of backstory from my NaNo project, this time for Jack. He gave me his history tonight, then let me write this backstory to get a bit of a feel for him. I'm liking him. A lot. Which isn't necessarily good since he is NOT the main character. Oops.

Character: Jack
Date: August, 2007
Subject: Jack stares down the bourbon
Notes: (c) 2009 Deb Atwood, all rights mine, feel free to link to it but don't repost please. Also, this is a rough rough rough draft just finished two minutes ago, so I'm more than sure there are errors.

[Icons] Logan Marshall-Green

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Why yes, it IS Logan Marshall-Green again. The man of Dark Blue, the man with the muppet expressions and adorable eyes and mouth. I can't resist iconning him, even when I'm actually supposed to be iconning other people entirely. I just love his face and his expressions, and besides, someone asked me to make icons of him smiling. And there are some in this set!

Sorry about the grainy quality or odd-colouring of some of the icons. Did the best I could for corrections, but the light and color-tones in this show are just almost impossible to work with. I hate iconning this show, and yet, you know I will do it again.

4. Blood Ties / Blood books / Smoke and Shadow books
5. Amber series
